Assistant Banquet Manager

Position Description:
1. Maintain an elegantly appointed function rooms with superior staff dedicated to providing our guests with an attentive and distinctive experience for breakfast, lunch, dinner, receptions and cater-outs. 2. Project a positive, professional and friendly image to all guests and employees. 3. Assist in hiring, developing, motivating, leading and disciplining all staff. 4. Communicate directly with convener or host and review details of his/her function. 5. Ensure complete function success by holding staff briefings of event details, delegating to Captains and staff accordingly, coordinating with Banquet Chef on timing of functions and overall monitoring of event. 6. Organize and orchestrate any last minute changes or details to functions efficiently and effectively. 7. Understand and demonstrated knowledge of all food and beverage service aspects. 8. Ensure the correct and consistent service techniques for various meal periods are demonstrated by all staff as determined by the Four Season operating standards. 9. Consistent communications and interaction with Catering, Kitchen and Stewarding to ensure all needs and objectives are being met. 10. Prepare staff schedules in accordance with labor standards and business levels. 11. Analyze and interpret financial statements including labor reports, profit/loss statements, budgets and daily stats reports. 12. Accurately prepare banquet billing and reporting. 13. Ensure a safe working environment by maintaining compliance with State regulations and taking corrective action for all workplace hazards. 14. Ensure proper care, security and maintenance of hotel equipment through diligent supervision of service personnel. 15. Observe daily conditions of all physical facilities and equipment, and make recommendations for improvements as needed. 16. Monitor staff’s appearance, attitude and degree of professionalism and ensure strict adherence to Four Seasons’ grooming and service standards. 17. Communicate with and stimulate co-operation with other Divisions to ensure a supporting team of professionals. 18. Set and explain priorities, exercise sound judgment, behave decisively and make tough decisions as needed in a demanding and ambiguous environment. 19. Adapt management and interpersonal style, respond effectively to emergencies/changes, and remain unflappable even under stress and criticism. 20. Prepare payroll as required by the Director of Finance. 21. Participate in employee performance evaluations. 22. Attend and participate actively in Catering meetings, event pre-cons and all other required meetings in the absence of the Banquet Manager 23. BARTENDER/COCKTAIL (CAN)

Position Description:
Maintains high quality standards in regard to alcohol service, sanitation and safety. Responsible for the setup, maintenance and operation of the bar. May be responsible for serving food to guests. Demonstrates commitment to guest satisfaction and positive employee and company relations. Must assist in other departments or with other job duties as requested or necessary.

FUNCTIONS:

o Adheres to all Company policies and regulations.

o Collects currency and gives receipt with every transaction and completes daily paperwork.

o Ensures standards of appearance and sanitation are maintained on a daily basis.

o Handles guest concerns in a professional manner.

o Keeps all water and beverage glasses filled as needed or requested.

o Keeps bar neat and clean throughout service.

o Maintains effective portion controls in the bar using established pouring methods.

o Maintains good safety practices of employees and guests throughout the property.

o Maintains line of communication between Bar Manager, Dining Room Manager, Host/Hostess, Kitchen and Bar.

o Mixes and serves alcoholic beverages to guests. Serves food when dining is available in the bar/lounge.

o Obtains assigned service station from manager at the beginning of the shift. Prepares mis en place for assigned station and is ready to assist other if needed.

o Participates in on-going employee training.

o Presents check immediately after service or within an appropriate amount of time if the guest is dining in the bar.

o Reports to work on time in a neat and clean uniform.

o Responsible for following Provincial and National Park Service policies and regulations for serving alcoholic beverages in a responsible manner.

o Takes fast and appropriate action to solve problems.

o Takes part in all sales goals and incentive programs. Greets and informs guests of promotions. Makes yes-yes choices available to the guest.

o Will assist in banquets as assigned.

o Will obey all hotel rules and regulations.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

o 2-4 years experience in a bartending position.

o Able to handle guest concerns in a tactful and caring manner.

o High school graduate.

o Hospitality computer systems experience desirable.

o Must be 18 years of age or older.

o Must be able to work varied shifts.

o Must be team-oriented.

o Must have good table service skills.

o Must have knowledge of bar accounting.

o Must possess neat and pleasant grooming habits.

o Strong interpersonal skills. Must be pleasant, helpful, friendly, outgoing, enthusiastic and courteous in dealing with guests and co-workers.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

o Historic hotel bar.

o Job requires walking, bending, kneeling, handling, reaching, grasping, lifting 12+ Kgs., and repetitive motions.

o Non-smoking environment.
